Selection of High Yield Volvariella volvacea Strains for Year-Round Bag Cultivation on Sterilized St

【英文摘要】 Four strains of Volvariella volvacea, Pingyou No.1, V0048, V0042 and V0026, were screened out from a total of forty strains for their ability to grow well on sterilized straw using the bag cultivation mode. The four strains were divided into two groups based on fruit body color. Light-colored type strains, Pingyou No.1, V0048 and V0042, produced fruit bodies early and in high yield, and exhibited biological efficiency values of 37.5%, 33.1% and 31.7%, respectively. The biological efficiency of strain V0026, belonging to the black colored type, was 31.1%. In order to reduce economic risk and meet consumer demand for product diversity, we have developed a system of year-round co-cultivation of light and black colored strains of V. volvacea in bags of sterilized straw substrate.
