IONE (CBS13) – San Joaquin County Sheriff’s investigators believe they have located the body of a missing mushroom hunter on Thursday afternoon.
Robert Piccetti went missing while reportedly mushroom hunting in the Amador County area of Ione in late November.
Thursday, sheriff’s investigators continued their search for Piccetti in the area he was mushroom hunting. This search was sometimes done in conjunction with the Amador, Calaveras, Sacramento and Contra Costa Sheriff’s Offices Search and Rescue Units and California Emergency Management Agency.
However, final identification confirmation is still pending. The cause of death is unknown at this time, but will be released by the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office.
The cause of Piccetti’s disappearance is still under investigation.
